Rasputin
2011 - April 17, 2025
Last week we said goodbye to our sweet Rasputin in a beam of sunshine in the backyard. Even though we don't know about the first year or so of his life, the past 13.5 years have been full of love, adventures, and many, many shenanigans. (How many dogs do you know who have been smuggled through a casino in Reno?) Raspy came to us by pure luck after being a stray and left at the SPCA in the middle of the night tied to the gate. Although John was the sun in his sky, he was a fierce protector and faithful companion of his little girl.
In honour of our darling boy, a list of his top 5 capers:
5) his annual attempts to obtain a full Thanksgiving dinner by tugging at the tablecloth
4) nearly getting away with a full wheel of brie at a party
3) getting onto Grandma's kitchen counter, where he consumed a full dish of butter, which he promptly disgorged when removed from the counter
2) digging a week-old moldy ravioli from an outdoor garbage, smuggling it upstairs in his mouth, and stashing it carefully under John's pillow for a bedtime discovery
1) taking a full chicken carcass off of Grandma's stove and hiding it carefully in her couch cushions
We are so grateful to have been his people and will miss him forever.
We would also like to express our deep gratitude to Dr. Rita for helping us give Raspy the loving goodbye he deserved.
