Pekoe
2007 - 2025
Pekoe was a kind, gentle and sensitive boy. We joked that he had the voice and demeanour of Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh. Even though he was much larger than our other cats, he would still let them boss him around. He was very chatty, and would respond with a mrowr meow every time you would say his name. If you woke him from a nap or startled him he would give a single louder mrow and give you the grumpiest cat face.
Deb got Pekoe when he was a kitten, but when Andrew entered the picture 7 years later, Andrew immediately became the favorite human. When Pekoe was 6 years old he was diagnosed with diabetes. We happily adjusted our lives and daily schedules to keep him happy and healthy for an additional 12 years. He was the sweetest boy and made friends with anyone who walked in our front door.
During the last years of his life, we moved to the country where he enjoyed bathing in the sun on our deck, and adventuring in the grass and flower beds around our home. He was developing dementia and began losing his sight and hearing. We loved him so much and 3 months later writing this it still hurts so bad. We will never forget him. He is buried in the back yard where we can visit him any time.
Saying goodbye to him was the hardest day of our lives, and Dr. Liz made it bearable and comforting. We are forever grateful to her and the services provided by Sunset Veterinary.
Rest in peace sweet boy.
