Matsuda
March 2007 - May 2026
We were so lucky to spend his wild and precious life together.
Matsuda was a beautiful and inquisitive soul. He had a quiet curiosity about the world around him, and was always keen to explore new things. He was discerning about who he trusted, and offered those he bonded with a deeply loving presence (while insistently tap-tapping for gentle cheek and belly rubs).
He enjoyed people watching, destroying crinkle balls, sniffing all manner of plants, ice cubes in his water bowls, and playing in his blankets with a fierceness that always brought smiles to our faces. He loved the quiet moments of shared routine and companionship most of all.
He was unfailingly kind, and unerringly steady. Together we survived a house fire, and later navigated a decade of kidney care with more patience and grace than anyone could have hoped for. The strength and acceptance he showed in response to his treatments gave us comfort while we comforted him.
There will never be another like you, little one. Rest easy, as I will carry you forever in my heart.
