Another Year of Sunset Veterinary Care

This month we reached another exciting milestone for Sunset Veterinary Care, two years of providing care to families and their pets in the Winnipeg area.

During our second year we strengthened our small team of four. With Nicole at the helm, she is the first point of contact for families and is the key to keeping our team organized. Doctors Rita and Nash have been integral to continuing the exceptional attentiveness to animals and their caregivers. Thank you to my team for carrying on my dream for Sunset Veterinary Care.

We have been fortunate to aid hundreds of dogs, cats, and even some rabbits, pass peacefully in the comfort of their own homes this year. While each visit can be incredibly heartbreaking, we take great honour and peace in knowing we are helping both animals and people during these very difficult moments.

Earlier in 2022 we were able to start offering virtual quality-of-life consultations. These assessments allow families to have an hour or more with one of our veterinarians to discuss pain in animals, signs of diminishing quality-of-life and pre-planning for their pet’s passing. While we have always offered these assessments in-home, the addition of a virtual option gives us the opportunity to talk to caregivers when we might not be able to get to them physically.

In 2023 you can expect all the same, wonderful things about our service - personalized, compassionate, in-home care from our kind team. You can also expect to see Dr. Rita more, as she starts covering more days of the week. I will be out on fewer appointments to start the year, but hope to be back helping families by the spring.

I want to take this opportunity to thank all of our supporters in this past year. We have felt embraced by the local veterinary community and their confidence in us caring for their patients and clients means so much. Thank you to each of the families who invited us into their homes to help their pets pass peacefully. Your trust means everything.

Again, it is an honour to support animals and their people during these love-filled moments. Wishing everyone a year filled with kindness.

~Dr. Liz
